Methodology

ReplaceIQ methodology

The methodology separates source documents, extracted facts, normalized requirements, and fit decisions so that one layer cannot silently rewrite another.

Source and fact are different things

A manufacturer document is a source. A dimensional, electrical, clearance, support, trim, or installation statement derived from that document is a fact.

Keeping those layers separate makes it possible to audit where a statement came from and whether the source actually applies to the appliance being evaluated.

Normalization does not create new truth

Normalization gives documented facts a consistent structure for comparison. It must not invent a value that the source did not establish.

Fit is a decision over evidence

A fit result is not simply a similarity score. Relevant installation constraints must be compared using the evidence available for the existing appliance, the installation, and the candidate replacement.

Uncertainty is part of the output

Unknown, conflicting, or unverified information should remain visible. ReplaceIQ does not use missing evidence as permission to declare compatibility.
